    Silver Award at Hardware Info

    Hardware Info : 07-19-2012

In a nutshell, the Cooler Master HAF XM is an excellent chassis that offers everything you expect in this price class. You get excellent cooling capabilities, enough frontal connectors, lots of internal space and it's very user-friendly.

In addition you get some nice extras, such as an on-button for the fan illumination, room for a very large water cooling fan, two 3.5-inch hot-swap slots and a cable duct for the power supply. The stand-out quality of this chassis is the low noise production you get with the efficient cooling performance.

There are a few minor points of criticism as well. The hard disk trays are a bit flimsy, and the plastic on the top of the chassis could be of higher quality. That being said, this is really an ideal choice if you're looking for a chassis that cools well but doesn't generate a lot of noise at the same time. That is why the Cooler Master HAF XM earns the Hardware.Info Silver Award.

    Recommended Award at Hardware Heaven

    Hardware Heaven : 07-04-2012

Starting with the build quality of Cooler Masters HAF XM we have a case which offers a nice, solid main body. It would be nice to see some additional metal used for the top and front panel but the plastic used (in addition to the mesh) is of a decent standard with no sharp edges or ill-fitting sections. Inside the high level of build quality continues with each component feeling secure and all items fitting together well.

In terms of overall design the HAF range continues to be a love it or hate it aspect. It won't be for everyone but many will like the industrial style and those who do will find a feature packed case. This starts with the two hot swap bays at the front and continues on through plenty of fan configuration options before allowing us to install a wide range of hard drives, large components (E-ATX /Tri CrossFire/SLI). There are some nice touches like the wiring cover and rubber sections on the wiring holes and top tray. In terms of changes we would prefer to see Cooler Master install all the motherboard standoffs at the factory to save some time and an LED fan on the top would work well too as would moving the PSU filter to the outside of the base.

Moving to performance we have a case which runs reasonably quiet and thanks to the three large fans it pushes plenty of air in the default configuration. Airflow can be improved further by adding additional fans and it is nice to see the inclusion of USB 3.0 to maximise the potential of our external devices.

Moving to value the case retails for around £110/$130 which compares well to a number of competing models. Cooler Master could knock a little off the windowed version which is a little more but other than bundling some extra items like a USB 3.0-2.0 convertor or adding a card reader there can be no real complaints on the value front.

    Summary
The Cooler Master HAF XM is a solid, flexible and feature packed mid-tower which offers plenty of airflow.

    Must Have Award at Kitguru

    Kitguru : 05-08-2012

The Cooler Master HAF XM is a very capable and attractive chassis that remains faithful to its bigger brother – The HAF X. It incorporates a plethora of features such as a tool less design, front panel USB 3.0 and a fantastic internal layout.
The HAF XM also features a array of cooling options should you desire a large CPU cooler, such as the ever popular Noctua NH-D14 or the ThermalRight Silver Arrow.
The extruded side panel provides more than enough space to accommodate them with room to spare, while providing support for a respectable water cooling loop with a 280mm top mounted radiator.
Despite its industrial rugged looking exterior, the case is a pleasure to build inside, with first class cable management.
I was particularly impressed with the power supply cover and the made-for-purpose cutout at the top of motherboard tray which allows easy routing of the CPU 4/8pin cable to the back of the motherboard tray.
The HAF XM is a well designed chassis with no glaring issues we can mention. The use of multiple, large, high grade fans means that the system pushes a lot of air while maintaining a low noise threshold.

    Gold Award at Skratchwiz PC

    Skratchwiz PC : 04-27-2012

Now the HAF series from Cooler Master might not be to everyone’s liking but for those who have previously owned a HAF series case will not be disappointed with the HAF XM. Cooler Master have this time got it right with a mid-tower version keeping a lot of the features we’ve seen with the full towers, lots of cooling options, great design and of course the quality you would expect from Cooler Master. At a price of £104.99 the HAF XM looks like being a success, it might even sway the non HAF likers to change their minds!!

With no real bad points apart from the PSU dust filter the HAF XM is worthy of a Skratchwiz PC gold award.
